Extremities a little worn, including corners, and stained. Spine and board edges sunned, flyleaves foxed, with some small coloured letters and numerals on rear\ otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by numerous text figures, engravings and photographs. Decorated by publisher's device on title page, An comprehensive work reflecting the great expansion of organised sport which took place in the Victorian era. ' By far the greater part of it is reprinted from The Encyclopaedia of Sport [1897-98].' Alfred Edward Thomas Watson (1849-1922) was a sporting writer, editor of the Badminton Library and of the Badminton Magazine.
