Bound in contemporary red leather, gilt, elaborately decorated gilt; spine in compartments with raised bands. Inner dentelles. All edges gilt. A little wear to extremities, including head and tail of spine, which is slightly sunned. Foxing confined to preliminaries and last pages of text; otherwise a very good copy. 1861 gift inscription on second free endpaper. Illustrated by 8 steel engraved plates, including frontispiece and vignette title, all protected by tissue guards. Combined edition of the works of Samuel Taylor Coleridge and Thomas Campbell (1777-1844), Scottish poet and author of lyrical ballads relating to the French wars, including Hohenlinden, The Battle of the Baltic and Ye Mariners of England. In a handsome binding.
