4to. 10 x 7.75 inches. 96 pp. Illustrated by 37 plates, of which 8 in colour, including frontispiece. Decorated by title page vignette. A well illustrated collection of articles, stories, poems, etc. Contributors include Ian Hay, Holbrook Jackson and Henry Newbolt. This annual was published between 1908 and 1917, to raise funds for National Book Trade Provident Society, a charity which could trace its origins back to 1837. It constructed almshouses, near Kings Langley, called The Retreat, for the benefit of 'decaying booksellers and their spouses.' It continues today as The Book Trade Charity (BTBS).
