Signed by Mervyn Peake's son, Fabian, on first free endpaper. Illustrated throughout by the artwork of Mervyn Peake, including title page. 'The poem describes with infinite humour the impossible voyage of an improbable crew to find an inconceivable creature ' (The Snark, a Boojum) (Williams, Madan and Green). Fine copy of the extraordinary poem (1876) of Lewis Carroll, magnificently illustrated by Mervyn Peake. It had been re-originated from Peake's original artwork and includes a selection of his remarkable working sketches never before published. The original illustrated edition was published by Chatto and Windus in 1941.
