Slight sunning of spine, browning of flyleaves and occasional foxing; otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by 20 colour plates, including frontispiece, protected by captioned pictorial paper guards, and by text figures. Decorated title page. Illustrated text of The Admirable Crichton, the 1902 stage play by J. M. Barrie (1860-1937), satirising the class structure of British society, in which an entire wealthy household is shipwrecked on a desert island. Illustrated by Hugh Thomson (1860-1920), Irish artist, who pioneered the late nineteenth century Cranford School of illustration, employing a carefully researched pre-industrial mode of pen drawings, also including colour.
