Extremities worn, including corners, and head and tail of spine; Rear joint starting to crack and occasional foxing; otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by engraved frontispiece. Written in the form of 'historical discourses,' with dialogues examining the problems of marrying outside a person's faith. A didactic work by Daniel Defoe (c.1661-1735) on the importance of religious compatibility before and within marriage; the necessity of religious harmony during the courtship phase also being emphasised. First published anonymously in 1722, with numerous later editions.
