Small 8vo. 7 x 5.5 inches. [1] + 21 pp. + [1] pp. + colophon. Blank pages at beginning and end. Bound in black leather over green patterned boards. All edges green. Light foxing of flyleaves, but otherwise a very good copy. Signed by W. O. Reynolds on first free endpaper. Illustrated by ornamental title and opening of text, p.[1] and by wood engraved plate. Decorated by initials in red and green and by endpiece vignette. An attractively bound little volume of the essay, On Gardens, by Francis Bacon (1561-1626). Very scarce limited edition of thirty copies by Wilfred O. Reynolds of the Peacock Press, Plymouth. Reynolds is likely to be Wilfred Owen Reynolds, a soldier from Plymouth, who served in Egypt, 1915-18, and who painted local scenes in watercolour (entreprise. news website).
