8vo. 8.5 x 6 inches. xxiii + [i] + 494 + [1] pp. errata + [4] pp. publisher's advertisements. Bound in original brown cloth, gilt, with gilt block on front board. Bevelled board edges. A little foxing of preliminaries, but otherwise a very good clean copy. Neat ink note on verso of first free endpaper. Illustrated by colour frontispiece protected by tissue guard, by 16 whole page plates and 93 figures, both numbered in text and by tables. An attempt to harmonise the Biblical account of the Creation with the latest scientific discoveries. By Samuel Kinns (1826-1903), Ph.D. University of Jena 1859, principal and proprietor of the Highbury New Park private school, ordained priest in the Church of England in 1889 and held a curacy and a living in London until 1899.
