A little wear to lower board edges and slight browning of front flyleaf; otherwise a very good copy. Bookplate. Illustrated throughout in black and white, with frontispiece, including maps, plans and diagrams. Decorated by chapter heading vignettes. A history of the British East India Company, 1600-1874, which dominated British involvement in the sub continent for over two centuries. Included in the many appendices is a list of ships in the service of the Company from 1601 to 1832 divided into four chronological periods. By maritime historian, Jean Sutton.
