FIRST US EDITION 8vo. 8 x 5.25 inches. vi + [ii] + 354 pp. Title page has red borders. Bound in original dark green cloth, gilt, front board with blind stamped borders, including black block of ship, with small ship on spine. Extremities a little worn and spine dulled. Some browning of flyleaves, slight foxing of title page and preliminaries and small upper margin water stain, not affecting text; otherwise a very good copy. 1927 gift inscription on first free endpaper. Decorated by title page vignette and by Kipling swastika device on verso of half title. First US edition of Debits and Credits featuring fourteen short stories, nineteen poems and two scenes from an unfinished play, mostly written or revised by Kipling, 1923-25.
