Notes
A very competent depiction, viewed from the end of the Leas to the west of Albion Villas, and taking in the first building on the Leas, the rear of Sandgate Road, West Cliff Gardens, Albion Villas, Priory Gardens and the Parish Church. Visible beyond is Copt Point and beyond the faint outline of the white cliffs. Little more than a dozen people are depicted. Strollers, viewers of the sea, both seated and standing, and a carriage driver, give scale to the scene but the architecture and setting are foremost in the artist's mind.
