FIRST EDITION. Small 8vo. [viii] + 322 pp. Bound in original cream cloth, with decorative blind stamped borders. Extremities worn at head and tail of spine, which with board edges is darkened to brown. Flyleaves, map, preliminaries and end pages foxed, scattered elsewhere; otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by numerous engraved text figures, including whole page and by folding map frontispiece. Attractive little pocket guide to the Lizard peninsula of Cornwall, the most southerly point of the mainland, including the history, geology, marine and plant life. The Rev. Charles Alexander Johns (1811-74) also published Botanical Notes, Forest Trees of Britain and Flowers of the Field.
